Bill Liao: The «Epic Gratitude Campaign»

The reality of the Internet providing us with the desired outcome of a universal tool for the betterment of us all appears to be, if not a pipe dream, at least a bit far off from the where we find ourselves today.

So it's very refreshing to see direct action sites like Kiva.org and betterplace.org, that seek to connect people who are willing to give to small projects with the people on the ground in countries across the world, that are actually carrying out small yet powerful projects such as creating a small clean water well in a village, to both improve villagers health and to free up many from the burdensome task of walking miles a day for drinking water.

Last year I participated in tweetsgiving, which called on us all to express our gratitude for the things we are personally grateful for, by tweeting out. The funds raised built a library for children at a small school in Africa. This year the same campaign has been rebranded Epic Gratitude.

The Epic Gratitude campaign will begin shortly, so look out for it and participate, as it is a really nice and clever way to leverage the Internet to do some good in the world, while at the same time personally benefitting you. As you see, one of the great ways to get in touch with how good your own life and thereby your personal happiness is, is to celebrate what you are personally grateful for.
