So here I am finally in L.A. having spent 4 days on US Amtrak trains. One advantage of everything being bigger in America is that the sleeping cars are all huge and could fit a family of four into a single cabin.

Ideas worth spreading. Really.

As I prepare for my 3 minute speech, which will be in the 2:15pm session of March 1 on the TED main stage, I am trying to memorize what I need to say, as the timing is so critical and being a high school dropout, I am really not used to memorizing stuff these days.

Thank goodness for the Internet and Wiki How Memorize-Lines, which has really really helped me, as yesterday I could barely keep a word in my head and today, I have the whole speech memorized nearly correctly just because I followed the tips.

You see, I normally only talk about what I know, so I do not commit to memory. The words of my talk are from my heart and the limited time means that I cannot ramble on at all, so I must get the message precisely right.

All of this effort is to support the WeForest global movement for the sustainable planting of 2 Trillion trees by 2020. So the next few days here in LA are all about connecting to anyone who can assist in the spreading of the word.

On a different note, have you noticed that Bit.ly the URL shortening service, now allows you to customize links? I was delighted to find that I could setup http://bit.ly/AboutBill. This has real implications for making your message easy to spread, so take a moment to try it out.

I am staying in Beverly hills and its amazing how many stars you see out and about. I saw Gene Simmons from Kiss getting a table at Houston's just the other day and while I am not one to usually be star struck I cannot help taking a second glance here and there.

I am looking forward to spreading the word about WeForest.org at TED.com and I hope everyone reading this helps out.
